Susquehanna goes to the Doctor!

Diana owns a little dog named Peanut. Here is a picture of this small nice dog. He kept crawling under our fence and barking at and chasing the chickens. We thought that the little rat of a dog could do little more than annoy the chickens. We were wrong. A week ago Peanut decided that barking was getting boring, so he decided to start bitting. And Susquehanna, yes she is as dumb as a chicken, just sat there and let the dog gnaw on her. Luckily, Scott found them and quickly chased Peanut away. But, by then Susquehanna was already all bloody. Scott and Kennedy took Susquehanna and put her in the bath tub and cleaned up her wounds and put some antibiotic on her. She seemed like she was ok, but as the week went on, she started using her leg less and less. Even though it is cute to watch the chicken hop on one foot, we decided that we had better take her to the vet to ensure that she is ok and make sure she doesn't lose her leg! Scott put Kennedy in the back window of the Charger and took her to the vet to the amusement of all the cars that saw a 68 Dodge Charger with a chicken as a passenger. The vet said that she was going to be ok and gave us some antibiotics to give her. Oh yes, giving a chicken a pill is great fun! Not as bad as giving one to a cat though.
Scott had the chicken in a cat carrier while waiting for the vet in the waiting room. She was contently softly clucking, almost enjoying her trip, while in the waiting room. Scott remembered that he had left something in the car and asked the receptionist if it was ok if he left Susquehanna in the waiting room while he ran to the car. She said it was ok, so Scott ran out to the parking lot. On the way back in, Scott opened the door and heard Susquehanna screaming! The receptionist said that the second Scott left the chicken freaked out. Scott ran over to Susquehanna and she immediately calmed down and relaxed. I guess Scott's chickens really do love him.
